Manual Commercial Door Options

Do You Need Simple Durable Commercial Doors?

Take the time to research the different doors that are available. When it comes to commercial doors, you have a number of choices.
  • You can choose the material they are made of, such as glass, wood, or metal.
  • You can also choose doors by the way they open, such as swing doors, sliding doors, folding doors or even revolving doors.

Below is a description of the three above listed materials you have to choose from:
Glass Doors

Glass doors are attractive because they let light into your building, allowing people to see into your nicely arranged reception area or lobby. Glass also gives the illusion of space. But is glass safe? These days glass is made surprisingly durable and safe. Commercial doors are generally made with tempered or laminated glass, both of which are safe. In the event of a violent impact, they will shatter into small rounded pieces rather than large, sharp chunks. In the case of laminated glass, the chunks usually hold together. If your door is an outside door and faces the south, you can choose tinted glass to reduce the heat that enters your building along with the light.

Wooden Doors

Wooden doors provide privacy for offices, conference rooms, counseling rooms, etc. without losing any class. There are many beautiful kinds of wood to choose from: Red or white oak, maple, walnut, teak, mahogany, birch, or cherry. These doors offer 20 to 90 minute fire ratings.

Hollow Metal Doors

Hollow metal doors are private, durable and secure. Many of these doors are not actually hollow, but filled with polystyrene or the like. Unlike glass doors, these doors are not broken by flying debris and even a determined thief will not make it through a metal door without a blowtorch.

Many businesses use more than one type of commercial door. For example, a restaurant might choose a glass storefront for its main entrance, an automatic glass sliding door between the kitchen and dining room, wood doors for the office and bathrooms, and a hollow metal door for a back entrance.

If you are looking for doors for your business, it’s wise to buy through a local company who will also install them. That way, if there are problems, they will stand by their product and their work. These companies will generally offer you a variety of commercial doors to choose from and they can give you good advice on which doors will work best for your business.
